Viewing Wildlife

Arctic Terns nest around the lake in the summer. Goat can be spotted with binoculars on the mountains around the glacier. Black bears are seen occasionally in the area. Keep food secure so bears don't get the idea they can come to the campground for meals.

Viewing Scenery

The trail follows the shore line of Mendenhall Lake. Views of the glacier are present along most of the trail. The trail ends at Nugget Falls, a dramatic set of falls with all the noise and spray to go along with the scene.
