Beaver Lake Trail

The is a popular loop trail that begins within Sawmill Cr. Campground with an elevation gain of 250 feet over several switchbacks through open forest of hemlock, spruce and yellow cedar. Trail encircles the picturesque Beaver Lake. The City and Borough of Sitka's Herring Cove Trail connects with the Beaver Lake Trail as the trail loops around the southwest edge of the lake. Well suited to family outings with vistas of rugged mountains. Elevation gain of 250 ft.

General Information

Directions: Located on Baranof Island 7 miles southeast of Sitka; from downtown Sitka follow Sawmill Creek Road 5.2 miles to Blue Lake Road; turn left on graveled Blue Lake Road 1.5 miles to Sawmill Creek Campground sign. Turn right into campground and pass by campsites 1-6 before coming to trailhead parking area.
