Verde Glen

 

Verde Glen is a popular site on the Payson Ranger District for Trout Fishing and other water activities. During the summer months, Verde Glen is a fun escape for kids and parents. Please keep in mind that fishing must be done with an up-to-date license and that there are NO lifeguards.

Current Conditions: Note:  This campground is adjacent to a sensitive riperian area. Campers are asked to bring their own toilets and pack out all trash and human waste.  Please be sure to set up camp at least 200 feet from the stream.

General Information

Directions:

Travel on the Houston Mesa Road for 10 miles to the end of the pavement to the junction of FR 64. Turn right (east) and travel 1/2 mile to the site located on the north side of the road.

  • Overnight camping at this site is NOT recommended. Campers who do choose to camp overnight need to be equipped with a portable toilet or use of a self-contained vehicle.
  • Trailers over 16ft are NOT recommended.

Activities

Dispersed Camping

There are no designated camp sites, drinking water, toilets, or trash services. If you are staying overnight you must come equipped with a portable toilet or use a self-contained vehicle. Everything you bring in with you, must be packed out. Camping is NOT recommended.

River and Stream Fishing

Fishing is popular along the East Verde River. Species: sunfish, smallmouth bass, and rainbow trout
