Horseshoe Reservoir and Verde River are nearby. Opportunities abound for water activities such as fishing. This site is located along Verde River and is wooded with large mesquite shade trees. Bald eagles and great blue herons are frequently seen in this vicinity.

Fees $16/site/night; America the Beautiful Interagency Senior or Access Pass holders receive 50% discount (persons over 62 or have a permanent disability) for single camp units only. Campground fees must be paid for at the fee machine located at  Cave Creek District Office.

Restrictions: Stay limit 14 days, CAUTION: Portions of the Verde River are deep. Poor swimmers should use caution. Not recommended for trailers. Use of motorized watercraft on flowing portions of the Verde River is prohibited. No trash service provided, Pack it in-Pack it out.

General Information

Directions:

The site is 22 miles northeast of Carefree. From Carefree, take Cave Creek Road to Bartlett Dam Road. Turn right and continue for 6 miles to the junction of FR 205 and FR 19. Continue on FR 205 which turns left and becomes an un-maintained, unpaved road to Horseshoe Reservoir. Continue approximately 9 miles more on FR 205, following the route to Horseshoe Reservoir.
