Acacia Day Use Area
The drive from Apache Junction offers magnificent vistas of the Superstition Mountains, Salt River Canyon and Canyon Lake. The waters of scenic Canyon Lake wash against a gentle swimming beach at Acacia. Acacia is adjacent to Palo Verde Boating Site. Unique Sonoran Desert vegetation surround Acacia. The waters of this scenic lake wash against multi-hued cliffs. Acacia is a pleasant escape from the heat of the Valley. There are 40 day-use sites w/ ramadas, picnic tables, & grills. Entry is closed when the site is full. Many of the valley’s radio stations carry advisories concerning lake conditions and closures.

General Information
Directions:This site is 13.5 miles northeast of Apache Junction on Arizona State Hwy. 88 (historic Apache Trail). From Mesa, take US Highway 60 to the Idaho Road exit and go north to State Hwy. 88 and turn right. After crossing the first bridge at the lake, watch for the entrance on the left. Turn left into the site. The entire route is paved, and has narrow, sharp curves; heavy traffic. View and download a map.

There are 7 Shade Ramadas with several picnicking tables underneath each one TOTALLING 40 picnic “units.” There are no separate shade ramadas or picnic tables. Grills, tables, trash, and walkways are accessible.
