A beautiful area with pine, fir and wildflowers in the spring. Horton Spring Trail offers excellent views. Zane Grey and “Babe” Haught used this trail to reach hunting areas above the rim.

Restrictions: | Not recommended for horses. No motorized vehicles are allowed. If you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!! Carry an adequate supply of drinking water. One gallon per person per day is recommended during hot periods. Do not drink untreated water. Giardia, a protozoan, is in many water impoundments and streams. Portions of the trail are rough in places and should be traveled with caution.The rim has the second highest incidence of lightning in the U.S. so use caution during the summer rainy season. |

The first ΒΌ mile is gentle; it then becomes very steep, going up a rocky side hill with switchbacks.
