Buck Mountain-Buck Rim Trail #3075
This trail is located on the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness and is open to foot and horse traffic only. This trail begins at the Buck Creek Trailhead and ends at Blue Mountain Trail, Lake Creek Trailhead. It climbs briskly (about 1900’) in the first 1.5 miles. The remaining 6.0 miles climbs only 300’ in elevation, gradually making its way through a series of mountain meadows.

General Information
Directions:From Pendleton, Oregon: Drive east for 7 miles on Interstate 84 and take Exit 216. Go left (north) for 2 miles to the blinking 4-way stoplight. Take a right onto Mission Road and continue onto Cayuse Road/County Road 931/Emigrant Road. After 1.7 miles turn left onto Cayuse Road (follow Bar M Ranch signs). Travel about 16 miles to where it meets Bingham Road. Turn right onto Bingham Road/County Road 900, cross the railroad tracks, and follow Bingham Road/County Road 900 (NOTE: this road becomes Forest Service Road 32 at the forest boundary) for approximately 9.5 miles. Cross the bridge just past the Umatilla Forks Campground and take the first left onto Forest Service Road 3200-045, approximately ¾ of a mile further. This leads to the Buck Creek Organizational Camp and the trailhead is located at the end of the road. Please do not block the gate.
From Walla Walla, Washington: Take Highway 11 to Athena, Oregon and turn left on Pambrum Road. Travel 5 miles and turn left onto Spring Hollow Road and go 6 miles. Turn left onto Bingham Road/County Road 900, cross the railroad tracks, and follow Bingham Road/County Road 900 (NOTE: this road becomes Forest Service Road 32 at the forest boundary) for approximately 9.5 miles. Cross the bridge just past the Umatilla Forks Campground and take the first left onto Forest Service Road 3200-045, approximately ¾ of a mile further. This leads to the Buck Creek Organizational Camp and the trailhead is located at the end of the road.
There is limited parking at this trailhead. No room for horse trailers--use the Corporation Trailhead.
Upper Access, Lake Creek Trailhead: From Weston, Oregon: Travel east on Highway 204 for 27.4 miles (8 miles south of Tollgate and 14 miles north of Elgin). Then turn west on Forest Service Road 31 (Summit Road) and travel 5.5 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 3150. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 3150 and go approximately 1.3 miles to Forest Service Road 3150-035 and turn right again. This is the Lake Creek Trailhead. Follow Lake Creek trail for ¾ of a mile to the Buck Mountain Trail junction.
