This trail is located on the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness and is open only to foot and horse traffic. It begins across from the lower trailhead Corporation Trailhead and ends at at Zizgzag Springs. If you start at Corporation Trailhead, you will need to follow the river for approximately 100 yards and cross the road to be at the trailhead.

From the Corporation Trailhead this trail climbs 2050 feet in 4 miles, passing through stands of timber and open areas hosting native grasses. The trail is lightly used and encounters with other recreationalists are rare. From this trail, you can access Grouse Mountain which offers dispersed camping.

Parking is available at either trailhead. There is a horse-unloading ramp at Corporation Trailhead.

General Information

Directions:

Lower Trailhead, Corporation: From Pendleton, Oregon: Drive east for 7 miles on Interstate 84 and take Exit 216.  Go left (north) for 2 miles to the blinking 4-way stoplight.  Take a right onto Mission Road and continue onto Cayuse Road/County Road 931/Emigrant Road.  After 1.7 miles turn left onto Cayuse Road (follow Bar M Ranch signs).  Travel about 16 miles to where it meets Bingham Road. Turn right onto Bingham Road/County Road 900, cross the railroad tracks, and follow Bingham Road/County Road 900 (NOTE: this road becomes Forest Service Road 32 at the forest boundary) for approximately 8.5 miles.  The Corporation/Lick Creek Trailhead is located to your right across the road from the barn, adjacent to the Umatilla River.

From Walla Walla, Washington: Take Highway 11 to Athena, Oregon and turn left on Pambrum Road. Travel 5 miles and turn left onto Spring Hollow Road and go 6 miles.  Turn left onto Bingham Road/County Road 900, cross the railroad tracks, and follow Bingham Road/County Road 900 (NOTE: this road becomes Forest Service Road 32 at the forest boundary) for approximately 8.5 miles.  The Corporation/Lick Creek Trailhead is located to your right across the road from the barn, adjacent to the Umatilla River.

Upper TrailheadZig Zag Springs: From Tollgate, Oregon: Take Highway 204 west for about 5 miles. Turn left (south) onto Forest Service Road 3715 (McDougall Camp Road) and continue for about 2.5 miles. This road ends at the trailhead.
