This 5.1 mile trail begins at Crane Creek Flats, Forest Service Road #73 at Crane Creek Trailhead north of Granite Oregon. This trail accesses North Fork John Day Wilderness and ends at its junction with North Fork John Day River Trail #3022

Current Conditions: Cleared 8/25/2019 Forest trails are not maintained and typically not accessible from late fall through late spring due to snow. Please call the North fork John Day Ranger District Office for up-to-date information.

Restrictions: Wilderness restrictions apply.
  •  Trail closed to all motorized and mechanized equipment, including mountain bikes and carts.
  • Weed-free feed is required for stock animals.

General Information

Directions:

From Granite, OR take Forest Road 73 north for about 6.5 miles to the trailhead on the west side of the road.

There is a large, fenced parking area with 1 dispersed campsite and interpretive signs. This site is directly adjacent to the Elkhorn National Scenic Byway.
