Rose Spring Sno-Park is a place where families and friends can head for the mountains during the winter months just to play in the snow. There are several areas, including this one, on the Umatilla National Forest that are popular for sledding and innertubing.
From Pomeroy, Washington (approxiamately 16 miles): Head south of Pomeroy for Peola Road (Mountain Road) to Y-intersection (approx. 10 miles). Continue straight to Mountain Road for 5 miles to the Umatilla National Forest boundary. Continue for 1.5 miles on USFS Road 40 until Rose Spring Sno-Park.
A fast ride downslope can end against a tree or even out into a busy highway, so caution and attention to safety should be observed. If young children are involved, adults should take a change of clothes, watch for signs of fatigue, and make time for rest and high energy snacks.
