Clearwater River Trail #1490

The trail meanders along the Clearwater River, with its clear blue pools, dancing riffles and small waterfalls. A dense canopy of old growth Douglas-fir and cedar, as well as dogwood, rhododendron, and alder. The lush vegetation is especially pretty in May when the dogwood blooms and in mid to late June when the rhododendron is in bloom.

  • Another unnamed trail runs parallel to the Clearwater River Trail, but there is no view of the river.

Directions:

West End:

From Roseburg, Oregon take OR-138 East/Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

  • Turn north off Highway 138 onto Road 4776, the west entrance to Toketee Ranger Station.
  • Go 0.1 mile staying to the right on the paved road. The trailhead is on the right, just after you cross the second one-lane bridge.
  • Umpqua National Forest Recreation Map reference is H-5. Location is Township 26 south, Range 3 east, Section 35.

East End:

From Roseburg, OR take OR-138 E/NE Diamond Lake Boulevard to milepost 62.

  • Turn north off Highway 138 onto Road 4776 at the east entrance to Toketee Ranger Station.
  • Go less than .3 miles, the trailhead is on the left just after crossing the Clearwater River Bridge.
  • Umpqua National Forest Recreation Map reference is H-5. Location is Township 27 south, Range 4 east, Section 6.
