Area Status: Open

A pleasant walk through a shady mountain hemlock canopy within the Mt. Thielsen Wilderness. From the Kelsay Valley Horse Camp/Trailhead follow North Umpqua Trail #1414.11 for 8.5 miles southeast to Lucile Lake.

The trail to Lucile Lake merges with a trail which goes around Lucile Lake. A good camping spot near Lucile Creek, before you arrive at the lake. 

A small Campground (free use) with picnic tables and fire rings is available at the Kelsay Valley Horse Camp /Trailhead at Bradley Creek.

General Information

Directions:

Western access, Kelsay Valley Horse Camp and Trailhead:

From Roseburg, OR, take OR-138 E/NE Diamond Lake Boulevard. Travel east for about 74 miles. Then turn north off Highway 138 onto Forest Road 60, the Windigo Pass Road. Follow for 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 6000-958. The trailhead sign is at the end of the road in 1.5 miles.

It is 8.5 miles from this trailhead to the Lucile Lake Trail junction.

Lucille Lake is also accessible from the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 or from the east side of the Cascades at Miller Lake via the Maidu Lake Trail.
