Tenas Peak Trail #1445

Tenas Peak, located on the northwest corner of Mt. Thielsen Wilderness, was once the location of a Forest Service fire lookout.

It may be accessed via North Umpqua Trail 1414 and Tolo Creek Trail #1466 or Windigo Pass Trail 1412.

Excellent views are available including a view of Cinnamon Butte Lookout which still provides fire surveillance during the summer.

General Information


From Roseburg, OR, turn onto OR-138 east / northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Continue on OR-138 about 73 miles to turn north onto Forest Road 60 (Windigo Pass Road), approximately 1 mile east of Lemolo Junction. Follow for 4.5 miles before turning right onto Forest Road 6000-958. The trailhead sign is at the end of the road 1.5 miles at Kelsay Valley Horse Camp and trailhead.

From the trailhead travel 2.5 miles on the North Umpqua Trail #1414, then turn left onto the Tolo Creek Trail #1466. The Tenas Peak Trail is to the left 4.5 miles up the trail.

Umpqua National Forest Recreation Map reference number is J-5. Located at Township 26 south, Range 6 east, Section 10. The trail may also be accessed from the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail via the Tolo Creek trail.
