The trail passes through both younger and older forests with views of several waterfalls. From the north trailhead, the trail travels uphill adjacent to Hemlock Creek before ending in a mountain meadow. The trail is down hill the entire distance from the south trailhead.

General Information

Directions:

From Roseburg, OR, turn onto OR-138 east / northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Continue on OR-138 approximately 16 miles until you reach the town of Glide.  Upon entering Glide the North Umpqua Ranger Station will be on your left.

East Access: The Hemlock Creek Trail is 33 miles from North Umpqua Ranger Station in Glide. From the North Umpqua Ranger Station, take Highway 138 west 0.1 mile to County Road 17 (Little River Road). Follow County Road 17 for 16.5 miles until it becomes Forest Road 27 near Coolwater Campground. Continue on Forest Road 27 for 3 miles to the end of the pavement, then continue another 12 miles on the gravel road to Forest Road 2700-495, which leads to Hemlock Lake Campground. Park near the picnic area, then hike the Yellow Jacket Loop Trail #1522 0.1 mile northwest until you see the trailhead sign for the Hemlock Creek Trail #1505.

West Access: The Hemlock Creek Trail is 27 miles from Glide. From the North Umpqua Ranger Station, take Highway 138 west 0.1 mile to County Road 17 (Little River Road). Follow County Road 17 for 27 miles to Lake in the Woods Campground, located on the right side of the road. The trail begins at Lake in the Woods Campground and ends at Yellow Jacket Loop Trail #1522.
