This area is Open

Illahee Lookout Trail #1539 travels upwards past sheer cliffs and rock outcroppings before reaching a 1956 timber L-4 tower lookout, where hikers will find exhilarating views of the surrounding countryside. Adjacent to the present structure sits an older cupola-style ground lookout, built in 1925. An abundance of wildflowers are present in the spring and summer.

A lookout is normally on duty from May through October, and visitors should ask permission before climbing up into the tower.
