Pup Prairie Trail #1434

Located in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness, Pup Prairie Trail #1434 runs from Acker Divide Trail #1437 to Rogue-Umpqua Divide Trail #1470 within Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. Together, these three trails provides an opportunity for a loop hike to Hershberger Mountain, where you can view beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer. This trail wanders in and out of a true fir forest, through glades interspersed with incense cedar, and past mountain prairies dotted with the colorful wildflowers typical of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide.

Before starting on the trail at the intersection with the Acker Divide Trail #1437, try taking a cross country hike 200 feet north of the trail junction to see a near record-setting Douglas-fir tree, measuring 10 feet 6 inches in diameter.

This trail wanders in and out of a true fir forest, through glades interspersed with Incense cedar trees and mountain meadows laced with colorful wildflowers typical of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide.

Trail elevation ranges from 5,400' at the highest point to 5,000' at the lowest. From mid fall through mid spring expect that this trail will have snow cover.
