Horse N' Teal Lakes Trail #1481
This trail circles Horse and Teal Lakes, two high elevation mountain lakes located near the south end of Diamond Lake. The 1.6-mile trail meanders through lodgepole pine stands and open meadows with great views of Mt. Bailey and Diamond Lake along the way. Water lilies add to the beauty of these small ponds, as do the waterfowl, deer, and other wildlife that frequent the area.

General Information
Directions:From Roseburg, OR, turn onto OR-138 E / NE Diamond Lake Boulevard. Continue on OR-138 for 79 miles to turn right onto Forest Road 4795 (entrance to Diamond Lake Recreation Area). Follow the road for approximately 6 miles then turn right, staying on the Forest Road 4795. Proceed approximately 0.3 mile and turn right into the South Shore Picnic area. In winter, use the South Diamond Sno-Park.
East End: From Highway 230 turn left onto Forest Road 6592 about 0.25-mile before the intersection of Highway 230 and Highway 138. Proceed approximately 1.25 miles and turn left onto Forest Road 4795. Proceed approximately 0.3 mile and turn right into the South Shore Picnic area. In winter, use the South Diamond Sno-Park.
General Notes:
- A mountain pine beetle outbreak in the area has resulted in the logging of infested trees.

XC Skiing/Snowshoeing
- The Outback Trail is a double-tracked groomed loop system that can be accessed at about 0.5 miles north of South Diamond Sno-Park. It takes you through the Broken Arrow Campground and ties into the Horse N' Teal Trail or the Pizza Connection Trail. These two trails plus the Pizza Connection trail are segments of the Diamond Ski Loop which is a 10.5 mile loop around the lake.
- The Horse N' Teal Trail runs west for 1.6 miles along the south edge of Diamond Lake and then skirts along open areas (marshes in summer) on a non-groomed trail to the Silent Creek Trail.
- The Pizza Connection (2.7 miles) is double-tracked from the Pizza Parlor through the Diamond Lake campground north to the Nordic Center and Resort.
- There are excellent views of the Diamond Lake and Mt. Bailey.
