Spruce Ridge Trail #1458
The trail offers glimpses of Diamond Lake, Mt. Thielsen and Mt. Bailey as it traverses through lodgepole pine, mountain hemlock and true fir stands.
This trail connects the Howlock Mountain Trail #1448 with Mount Thielsen Trail #1456.

General Information
Directions:South End, Mt. Thielsen Trailhead / Sno-Park (fee site): From Roseburg, OR take OR-138 E/NE Diamond Lake Blvd. Follow Highway 138 east for about 81.5 miles (1.5 miles north of the Highway 230/Highway 138 road junction near Diamond Lake). The Mt. Thielsen Trailhead / Sno-Park parking lot is located along the east side of Highway 138. The Spruce Trail junction is 1.6 miles from the trailhead.
Umpqua National Forest Recreation Map reference number is L-6. Located at Township 28 south, Range 5 1/2 east, Section 16.
North End, Howlock Mountain Trailhead (fee site): From Roseburg, OR take OR-138 E/NE Diamond Lake Blvd. Travel east on Highway 138. After mile marker 78 turn west onto Diamond Lake Loop Road #4795, the north entrance to the Diamond Lake Recreation Area. Go 0.3 mile to the Howlock Mountain Trailhead on the left. The Spruce Ridge Trail takes off to the right 1.7 miles out.
