Pleasant Grove Ranger District

Area Status: Open

The majestic Mt. Timpanogos towers over the Pleasant Grove Ranger District and beckons hikers from all over the State to its summit. In fact, the District is a popular destination due to its diversity of year-round recreation. The American Fork Canyon-Alpine Loop Recreation area is a particular favorite, offering fishing, family camping, arduous cycling, snowmobiling, ATVing, and rock-climbing. The District is also home to a herd of Rocky Mountain Sheep and maintaining a healthy ecosystem for this species and many others is a priority.

Operational Hours:	Pleasant Grove Ranger District 390 North 100 East Pleasant Grove, UT 84062 (801) 785-3563 Mon-Fri: 8:00am - 4:30pm Timpanogos Cave National Monument Visitor Center (801) 756-5238 The visitor center is located in American Fork Canyon on Hwy 92 just 10 miles east of interstate 15 and 17.2 miles from U.S. 189. Approximately 40 miles from Salt Lake City.
Reservations:	The National Recreate Reservation Service takes reservations for most campgrounds up to 240 days in advance at 1-877-444-6777 or on the internet at www.recreation.gov. These sites can be reserved no less than 5 days in advance. The Timpooneke trailhead permit system will be implemented beginning July 7, 2023 through October 15th. Timed tickets will be required during peak days and can be reserved 30 days in advance at recreation.gov 78 parking stalls will be availabe to reserve 30 days in advance and 18 parking stalls will be available to reserve 48 hours in advance.

Permit Info:	The Pleasant Grove Ranger District does not issue firewood or Christmas Tree cutting permits.
