Balsam Campground

Area Status: Closed

Balsam Campground is located in Hobble Creek Canyon. Vegetation is fir, maple and cottonwood trees. Hobble Creek runs next to the campground. There are concrete pads under the tables. Popular activities include fishing Hobble Creek, playing volleyball or hiking Dry Canyon or Wardsworth Trail (both of which leave Hobble Creek Road within one mile of campground).

Maple, fir and cottonwood trees forest the area, providing partial shade, beautiful fall color and some privacy between campsites. Hobble Creek runs through the campground.

General Information

Directions:

From Salt Lake City take I-15 south to W 400 S in Springville. Take exit 260 from I-15 S. Merge onto W 400 S. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto S Canyon Drive. Canyon Road will turn into Hobble Creek Canyon Road. After passing the Hobble Creek Golf Course the road will fork, stay to the right on Right Fork Hobble Road. The Balsam Campground is approximately 6 miles from the golf course past the junction of Forest Service Roads 132 and 058.  Continue on Forest Road 058, turn right on Forest Road 062. This road will take you to the campground entrance.

Activities

Mountain Biking

Biking trails are in the area, including Dry Canyon and Wardsworth Canyon Trails. Deer Spring Trail begins at the top of the camp and is one mile long. Left Fork Days Canyon Trail and Kirkman Hollow Trail, for hiking, biking, horseback riding and dirt biking, can be accessed at nearby Cherry Campground.

River and Stream Fishing

Rainbow and brown trout fishing are popular on Hobble Creek.
