Riding on the Superior Trail

Superior OHV Trail System is currently 16.5 miles long. A trailhead off State Route 52 accesses this section of trail.

The trail also has two connector trails to the Pine Creek OHV Trail System for continuous riding opportunities and additional traihead access points. The trail system is open to all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), off-highway motorcycles (OHMs), mountain bikes, and hiking. Trail width limit is 50 inches.

Operational Hours:
  • OHV and mountain bike riding allowed only during open season (April 15 through December 15).
  • Day and night (with lights) access is permitted.
  • Open year-round for hiking.

Restrictions: For OHV riding:
  • OHV Trail Permit required
  • APV Registration required
  • No vehicles greater than 50 inches wide allowed
  • Possession of alcohol is prohibited on the Wayne National Forest per Ohio’s Open Container Law.
  • Helmets and protective eye-wear required.
  • Passengers may ride only if vehicle is designed by manufacturer to carry passengers.

Information Center: Only vehicles 50 inches or less can ride these trails. You can build a campfire as long as you have a 10-foot clearance around it and it is extinguished before leaving camp. No bonfires are allowed. No standing or green trees may be cut. Check the bulletin boards to ensure no fire bans are in effect.
