Big Bend Swimming Beach

Area Status: Closed

The beach is located at the upper end of Lake Vesuvius. No life guards are present but the site has picnic tables, sand, and is an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon in the water.

General Information


Located 6.5 miles north of Ironton, Ohio, just off State Route 93. Turn on County Road 29 and follow the signs to the Recreation Area (1 mile). Turn at the entrance to the recreation area to the left and go past the lake and the boat dock. The beach is at the end of this road approximately 1.5 mile. GPS Lat/Long coordinates for the area are 38 deg 37' 12" / 82 deg 37' 43".

Sand Play

The swimming beach has a sand beach and is open every day during the summer months.
