The Wayne National Forest Welcome Center located on U.S. 33 between Nelsonville and Athens, Ohio serves as a reception area for visitors. It is also the office of the Athens Ranger District-Athens Unit and the Forest Supervisors Office.

Interpretive Areas

At this office we have a restored lookout tower which by appointment we allow people to climb. We also have a pollinator garden which people can walk among and see the different native plants. There is additional interpretive signage around the building and pollinator garden.

Visitor Centers

This visitor center is the headquarters office and has a large reception area with panels about the history of southeastern Ohio's resources and how the national forest came to be. The panels describe how past industries have impacted the land and what the Forest has done to restore the land. There are also changing exhibits within the center on a variety of other topics.
