This beautiful 100-acre lake is located on the Ironton Ranger District in Lawrence County, Ohio. The surrounding forested hills will make a picturesque backdrop for fishing, hunting, camping, or hiking trip to this tranquil lake. There are over 1,200 acres of Wayne National Forest surrounding Timbre Ridge Lake. Please respect private property during your visit, there are a few small private lots near the dam on the north side of the lake.

Dispersed Camping

Camping is allowed at this popular lake but no specific sites are developed.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Lake and Pond Fishing

This 100 acre lake is undeveloped and very deep. ODNR stocks rainbow troute every spring.
Special Designations "Slot size" restrictions - all bass between 12-15 inches must be released. All bass under 12" or over 15" may be kept.

Day Hiking

A primitive road system around lake makes for easy hiking though they are closed to vehicles. Bring your binoculars since wildlife is often seen.

Big Game Hunting

White-tailed deer are found around this lake and you may hunt anywhere on national forest land. For public safety, no hunting is allowed from the dam, parking lot, or boat launch. Ohio hunting regulations apply.

Small Game Hunting

Wildlife abounds around this lake and you may hunt anywhere on national forest land. For public safety,no hunting is allowed from the dam, parking lot, or boat launch. Timbre Ridge is adjacent to the Crown City Wildlife Management Area so hunters often camp at Timbre Ridge and hunt at the adjacent Ohio State wildlife area. Ohio hunting regulations apply.

Viewing Wildlife

Wildlife abounds at this tranquil lake which is undeveloped so walk softly and you're certain to see animals.
Species White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, waterfowl, forest songbirds and numerous reptiles and amphibians are likely to be seen.

Boating - Motorized

The parking area, dam, and boat ramp are closed from 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. unless you are fishing or camping at Timbre Ridge Lake. Please do not block gate or launching spur access for private land owners. Improved signing on access routes and at the lakehead have been installed. Possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on the dam, the boat launch, on the lake, and within 100' of the lakeshore and in the parking lots. The area is periodically patrolled by the Forest Service, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and the ODNR Wildlife Officer.
Trailer Parking Vehicle parking is provided on top of the dam. Trailer parking is provided below the dam. To help minimize congestion, launch your boat and park in the appropriate parking area.
