Garfield Ridge Shelter


‚ÄčThe Garfield Ridge Shelter is located at approximately 3,900 ft. on the eastern shoulder of Mt. Garfield just off the Garfield Ridge Trail (Appalachain Trail). The shelter is a 12-person 'Adirondack' style shelter.The site also has 7 4-person tent platforms, a composting privy, bearbox and dishwashing area. A fine spring is nearby. This site is staffed by a caretaker during the summer months.

At a Glance

Reservations: For small groups (5 people or less), reservations are not accepted; first-come, first-served basis only. For groups of 6 or more, at all facilities except Hermit Lake, AMC's Group Notification System must be utilized. Information may be submitted online.
Fees: Fee is $15 per person per night and is collected year-round. Utilize self-service cash boxes when caretaker is not present.

Water: Spring. Regardless of the source, remember to boil, filter, or chemically purify water before use.
