The Devil's Causeway Trail is a spur off the Chinese Wall Trail. The trail follows a narrow strip of land that connects two major sections of the Flat Tops. Both sides of the trail are 60'-80' cliffs with steep talus slopes dropping another 600'-800' into the drainage below. The rough, 3' wide crest can be crossed on foot, but it is impassable for horses.

General Information

Directions:

The Devils Causeway Trail is accessed via the Carhart (1815) , Little Trappers (1814) and Chinese Wall (1803) Trails. The Carhart Trail’s Outlet Trailhead is located 50 miles east of Meeker, CO.

From Meeker, co take Colorado Highway 13 east for 1 mile, then turn right on Rio Blanco County Road 8 and follow this for 39 miles to Trappers Lake Road #205. Turn south on Trappers Lake Road #205, and continue for 10 miles to the Outlet Trailhead.

Follow Carhart Trail #1815 around the east side of Trappers Lake for .75 miles to the Little Trappers Trail.  Ascend the Flat Tops via the Little Trappers Trail for 4.1 miles to its terminus at the Chinese Wall Trail.  Head north (left) on the Chinese Wall Trail for 2.1 miles to the junction with Devils Causeway Trail.
