The Vail Pass/Tenmile Canyon National Recreation Trail begins at Gore Creek Campground and ends at Copper Mountain. This paved trail starts where Bighorn Road ends, follows what used to be old Highway 6 over Vail Pass, and then descends to Copper Mountain. It is a popular biking trail, so be careful to stay on the right side of the trail as bikers descend toward you.
Directions: Travel east on I-70 to exit 180 for East Vail. Turn right and travel 2.3 miles east on the south frontage road, passing under the interstate and past the Gore Creek Campground. Park just beyond at the road closure gate.
