Santiam Lake Trail #3491

  

The trail begins at the junction with Duffy Lake Trail #3427 and Blue Lake Trail #3422  then travels through Duffy Prarie before junctioning with Dixie Lakes Trail #3494.  

The trail then travels past Santiam Lake and winds up and around through an open meadowy area for several miles before it meets the Pacific Crest Trail.

Current Conditions: Starting in 2021, visitors to the Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Washington, and Three Sisters Wilderness Areas may need a Central Cascades Wilderness Permit for overnight and day use. Learn more.
Fees $5/vehicle/day or a valid recreation pass. No payment accepted onsite.
Permit Info: Wilderness Permits required for visitors to the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness:
  • Day and Overnight visitors: Central Cascades Wilderness Permit required between Friday of Memorial Day weekend and the last Friday of September; reserve at recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Learn more.
  • Free, unlimited Wilderness self-issue permit required last Saturday of September until October 31 (available at trailhead)
Restrictions:
Closest Towns: Marion Forks, Idanha and Detroit, Oregon
Water: Water from streams and lakes should be filtered or treated.
Passes: A valid recreation pass may be used as a form of fee payment.
