Fees:
Permit Info: Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777.
Restrictions:
Closest Towns: Idanha and Detroit, Oregon
Water: Water from streams should be filtered.
Restroom: Vault Toilet
Passes: A valid recreation pass may be used as a form of fee payment.

General Information

Directions:

From Detroit, OR travel southeast on ​North Santiam Highway for about 10 miles then go left on Forest Road 2243 (Whitewater Road) and travel about 7.5 miles to the trailhead and parking area.


Parking:

25 vehicles 

For safety purposes do not park vehicles on both sides of parking area beyond the restroom.  

There is a wide spot 100 yards before the parking area for trailers.  Do not park trailers past the last main curve of the road before the parking area.  Vehicle turn around with a trailer is difficult.
