Blue Lake Trail #3645

This is one of the most popular access trails into the Diamond Peak Wilderness.

Most hikers stop at Blue Lake (less than a mile) for a short day hike. Blue Lake, one of the larger in the wilderness, offers excellent fishing and camping opportunities, as well as beautiful scenery. The trail ends at the Diamond Peak Trail, the main north/south route on the western side of the wilderness. The mountain slopes are covered with an alpine forest of mountain hemlock, silver and noble firs, and western white pine.

The adventurous can continue on to the more remote Happy Lake, for a more strenuous trek. Some hardy wheelchair users  have maneuvered this trail as far as Blue Lake.
