South Waldo Trail #3586

Beginning at Forest Road 5894 (off Highway 58), the trail climbs steeply to more level terrain. From here the trail grade is rolling, passing numerous small ponds, crossing the Fuji Mountain Trail # 3674, passing the Island Lakes area and continuing on to Mt. Ray Trail # 3682. At this junction, the trail enters the Waldo Lake Wilderness and follows rolling grades toward Waldo Lake. Near the end of the trail, it drops down around a meadow just behind the South Waldo Shelter and meets with Waldo Lake Trail. The upper and Lower Island Lakes are exceptionally clear and beautiful.
