Operational Hours: Access is dependent on McKenzie Highway (OR Hwy 242), which is closed in the winter. Check tripcheck.com for conditions.
Fees $5/vehicle/day or valid recreation pass
Permit Info: Limited Entry Permits are required for both overnight and day visits to the Obsidian Limited Entry Area. Reserve at recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Closest Towns: McKenzie Bridge, OR
Sisters, OR
Water: No potable (drinking) water
Passes: A valid recreation pass may be used as a form of payment
Information Center: McKenzie River Ranger Station

General Information

Directions:

From McKenzie Bridge, OR, drive east on Highway 126 about 2 miles to the junction of Highway 242. Travel northeast 17 miles on Highway 242 to Forest Road 250. Turn right (east) onto Forest Road 250, and turn right at the next Y junction. At the next Y junction, turn right and follow the loop to the far end to find Obsidian Hiker Trailhead.
