North Loop Snow Trail

Ray Benson Sno-Park » North Loop

Beginning at at Ray Benson Sno-park, North Loop Snow Trail  trends to the northwest through a forest of lodge pole pine, mountain hemlock and fir.

It then follows the old Hogg Railroad Grade eastward for 0.5 miles, heads southward, and winds through gentle swales and ridges typical of the Santiam Pass area.

Occasionally skirting small meadows, the trail circles back to the north side of Ray Benson Sno-park.

  • There is a warming shelter (North Blowout Shelter on the Deschutes National Forest) at about the half way point on the loop (about 1.5 to 1.75 miles out).
