SITE PLANNING
Visitors to national forests and related
facilities need a clear idea of where they are
heading, where to park, and where to enter their
destination. Carefully design this sequence of
arrival from the time a visitor nears a national
forest or enters a town seeking a Forest Service
office. This experience begins with signage. A well-designed
entry portal is the first opportunity for orientation. From there the visitor proceeds sequentially to campgrounds,
interpretive stops, visitor centers, offices, and
other attractions.
