BUILDING SCALE AND MASSING
The massing and scale of structures should
remain in harmony with the immediate natural
setting. For example, buildings in grand mountain
settings should be overscaled with large building
materials such as boulders, timbers, and largerthan-
typical doors and windows. In settings
where buildings stand out from the landscape,
such as open prairie and beachfronts, manipulate
the massing and scale to reduce the apparent
size of the structure and to relate it to the size
of humans.
