Abstract

Three new species of Pyemotes, P. giganticus, P. tuberculatus and P. emarginatus are described, as is the male of P. dryas (Vitzthum, 1923). Male P. dryas and both sexes of P. giganticus are polymorphic. A short, general discussion of polymorphism is presented which includes remarks on its mechanism and possible ecological-evolotuinary implications.
