Fees for Recreational Use of Wilderness
In 1996 Congress passed legislation authorizing a fee demonstration program for recreational use of the federal resource lands. In response to that legislation Rocky Mountain Research Station scientists in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute initiated a series of studies to evaluate public responses to new user fees for recreation settings, which included studies of expanded fees for wilderness access.
