Kellie Carim and her team conducted research on the Willamette National Forest, analyzing the lamprey genomes to identify species present in each watershed. They discovered that our current taxonomic understanding of lamprey in the Pacific Northwest is inaccurate and used DNA evidence to renovate it, solving several more mysteries about lamprey diversity that give managers a better understanding of this species.
