Peacock, Cherie ; Snodgrass, Kathleen . 2004. So That's Why It's Always Cold in Here: A Guide for Conducting Facilities Condition Assessment Surveys. 0473 2839. Missoula, MT: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, National Technology and Development Program. 20 p.
Provides information to help Forest Service facilities engineers conduct facilities condition assessment surveys. These surveys, also referred to as maintenance condition surveys or building inspections outside the USDA Forest Service, are an inspection and record of the physical condition of an existing building. The surveys provide most of the information needed for technical support and maintenance of the facilities. The data gathered can be a basis for allocating funds. This guide, which includes references to Web sites, books, forms, computer programs, and other materials, is intended to help engineering and architecture professionals and technicians become familiar with the inspection process.
