Portable Backcountry Rigging Tripod

Portable steel rigging tripod towers can help trail crews move heavy objects in the backcountry. Bitterroot National Forest trail workers developed a heavy-duty, portable tripod that could be used with a materials handling winch. MTDC tested and modified the design to increase efficiency and stability. MTDC Drawing No. 1035, which shows how to construct the portable tripod, is included in this tech tip. OSHA guidelines must be followed during rigging operations.
