The 2007 edition is the first major revision to this pocket-sized notebook since it was published for trail crew workers in 1996. The revision contains most of the original content, but also includes:

• New trail planning and design methods
• Improved construction and maintenance techniques
• New illustrations and references

This updated version is now available through a partnership between the Forest Service and Federal Highway Administration's Recreational Trails Program.
