Davies, Mary Ann. 2008. How to Set Up and Use the E-BAM for Smoke Monitoring. 0825 2F01. Missoula, MT: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, National Technology and Development Program.
Wildland and prescribed fires generate smoke. Increased particulate matter in smoke can impair visibility and raise health concerns. The E-BAM smoke particulate monitor uses a glass fiber filter tape and beta attenuation to estimate smoke particulate concentrations.
This training presentation shows how to set up the E-BAM smoke particulate monitor and the satellite transmission unit to send data to the Interagency Real-Time Smoke Particulate Monitoring Web site.
