Snodgrass, Kathleen . 2008. Life-Cycle Cost Analysis for Buildings Is Easier Than You Thought. 0873 2839P. Missoula, MT: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, National Technology and Development Program. 20 p.

Life-cycle cost analysis is a structured method of determining the entire cost of a structure, product, or component over its expected useful life by adding the cost of operating, maintaining, and using it to the purchase price. By using the simplified formula explained in this report for small decisions and the free software identified in this report for large decisions, Forest Service decisionmakers will have he financial information they need to make responsible decisions about replacing or constructing facilities. This report also includes a brief discussion of life-cycle assessments, which assess all of a product or service's environmental costs throughout its lifetime.
