Forest Management
Forest Management Pubs
San Dimas Technology and Development Center serves as
a technical resource, working with Forest Service field
units and the Washington Forest Management (FM) staff on
a variety of forest product and timber sale issues each
year. The Center conducts investigations and studies, and
develops or evaluates new products, tools, and technology.
The objective of the program is to work on problems of
the National Forest System which have application across
multiple Forests or Regions so that field units do not
duplicate efforts attempting to solve similar problems.
The emphasis is on practical solutions to current problems.
The Center does not conduct research.
The Technology and Development Program has working partnerships
with private industry, consultants, universities, and other
international, federal and state agencies. By maintaining
these contacts Center staff keep abreast of methods and
tools being used and evaluated by numerous forestry groups
throughout the world, and serve as a technology transfer
resource and information point for Forest Service employees.
The Center works to modify equipment and products to
make them more efficient, safe, or suitable to Forest Service
use. New equipment is developed, tested and evaluated.
The Center assists in training Service personnel in the
use of new equipment and technology.
