| Phos-Chek LV-R is a wet concentrate formulation that contains a mixture of monoammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate as the fire retardant salts. The formulation is gum-thickened and yields a low viscosity (75-225 centipoise) mixed retardant. LV-R contains corrosion inhibitors, stabilizers, and iron oxide color. Mixing occurs through simple proportioning of the retardant concentrate and water. The resulting mixed retardant is pumped directly into aircraft without intermediate storage. | ||
| Product Type: | Low viscosity, gum-thickened, fluid concentrate; demand-mixed. | |
| Qualification: | Conditionally qualified for use from a permanent or temporary base and can be applied from a fixed-wing airtanker or helicopter bucket. | |
| Use Level: | 1 gallon of fluid concentrate mixed with 3.6 gallons of water will produce 4.55 gallons of mixed retardant. Each gallon of mixed retardant contains the equivalent of 2.33 pounds or 0.22 gallons of fluid concentrate. | |
| Yield: | 1 ton of fluid concentrate yields 860 gallons of mixed retardant. | |
| Viscosity: | 75-225
centipoise (cP) for low viscosity. Field measurement (Marsh funnel) 36-50 sec through the small tip for the low viscosity. |
|
| Salt Content: | 11.3
percent by weight active salt: 8.4 percent by weight AS, (NH4)2SO4, 1.5
percent by weight DAP, (NH4)2HPO4, and 1.5 percent by weight MAP, (NH4)H2PO4. Field measurement (refractometer): A reading of 12.0 indicates a proper salt content. A reading between 11.0 and 13.0 indicates an acceptable salt content. |
|
| Specific Weight: | 8.93 and 10.58 pounds/gallon, respectively, for mixed retardant and fluid concentrate. | |
