The first thing to remember in these instances is to look and act professional and remain calm, cool, and collected. Negative tones in voice or body language can make the situation even worse by antagonizing the person further. When someone is upset or angry, don't:

  • Sigh in exasperation
  • Fold your arms across your chest
  • Roll your eyes
  • Drum your fingers
  • Divide your attention
  • Act bored
