Keeping Frontliners Safe and Secure
Telephone Threats

As another safety precaution, be prepared for telephone threats. If a bomb threat is received over the telephone, vital information that can save lives and property may be gained from the caller. Be calm and courteous and listen carefully. Take notes, if possible, without becoming distracted from what the caller is saying. Do no interrupt. Don’t place the caller on hold or attempt to transfer the call. If possible, quietly attract the attention of an employee nearby, indicate the nature of the call, and have the employee notify the occupant emergency leader of the situation or call 911 from another phone.
