The
CD, Forest Residues Bundling Project (0451–2CO2–MTDC), presents information from a study conducted in the summer of 2003 by the USDA Forest Service to evaluate new technology for collecting and compressing forest residues into bundles. Forests in the United States contain millions of tons of biomass. Using this biomass to generate heat and electricity has great potential in the Western States. The challenge is to find ways to remove biomass from forests economically and without causing environmental damage.
The CD contains a full copy of the New Technology for Residue Removal Report in both HTML and Acrobat formats. A 15-minute video presents an overview of the study. A gallery of pictures suitable for use in PowerPoint presentations also is included.
