The Missoula Technology and Development Center (MTDC) was asked to identify requirements and specifications for installing advanced meters and metering systems in Forest Service facilities. The systems need to provide information that can be used by the Forest Service nationally, but still be useful to individual facility managers.

This report is the project record of the center's evaluation of advanced meters and metering systems. It provides recommendations and considerations for installing and commissioning meters as well as for the software and communication networks needed to transmit data.
