*Obtain distance from table 1 (page 8).

Graphic of a roadway with the appropriate placement for signs being used to approach and end fire activity zones.

In the graphic the signs mirror each other facing oncoming traffic from each way. The middle of the roadway has a section of roadway that is missing indicating where the incident management activities are taking place.

There are two signs which are placed furthest away from the incident management activities. The top sign reads, "FIRE ACTIVITY AHEAD" and the bottom sign reads, "NEXT 5 MILES". The sign closest to the activities reads, FIRE TRAFFIC ENTERING ROAD". The last sign is past the incident management activities and reads, "END FIRE ACTIVITY". The first two sets of signs refer the reader to table 1 to obtain the proper distance that the signs should be placed from the incident management activities.
